Benson type ophthalmoscope

This type of scope was invented in 1885. It was developed by Arthur Henry Benson (1860-1912). He was a surgeon at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin. He worked there until he died in 1912.
He developed this simple ophthalmoscope for the students at St. Mark's Ophthalmic Hospital. The scope has a plane mirror and a concave mirror.  This particular one has seen better days with the concave mirror being cracked and both mirrors having silvering deterioration.,
