| These were used between 1880 and 1910 to shoot targets, especially against the sky. The amber color was said to enhance the contrast with foggy surroundings. This is similar to the reason that amber colored lights are used as "fog-lights" on modern automobiles. There is about a one centimeter clear area surrounded by about 2.5 to 3 cm of frosted glass. | |||
